Come On and Take a Free Ride... The Beta Tester FAQ
Thank you for your participation in our Beta Test. The test is now closed. Below are the details of the promotion in case you have any questions.
Overview
During this test, we will be evaluating all aspects of the game and website. We have been testing the game for months with a small number of players, but before going “live” with the general public, we want to make sure that the software performs as expected in a variety of circumstances, including with a larger number of players, using different web browsers, types of hardware, internet connections, etc. We also want to make sure that the questions are not too easy, not too hard; fun, but not offensive. We want to make sure the registration, deposit and community functions are all easy to use and understand. To do this, we need your help, and we will reward you for your efforts with a series of free games where you can win some great cash prizes. The details follow in the Beta Tester FAQ.
Who can be a beta tester?
Anyone who meets the
standard eligibility criteria can be a beta tester. However, we will be limiting the number of testers and we will not take additional testers once that number is reached, so if you want to be a tester, please register early!
What do we offer our beta testers?
As beta testers, you will be able to earn free entries into a series of online trivia tournaments offering big cash prizes. You will also have the opportunity to provide feedback to help improve the game for you and your friends.
What prizes do these beta freeroll tournaments offer?
Each tournament is currently scheduled to offer a $250 prize pool. The pool will be paid out to roughly the top 20-30% of scorers in each tournament (the prize pool breakdown will be available once each tournament starts). Note: any of this may change depending on circumstances, or at the whim of management.
How many tournaments will there be?
Our plan is to run a total of six tournaments of $250 each, for a total prize pool of $1,500. However, this could change depending on what we learn during the test.
When will the tournaments be held?
Tournaments are scheduled TBD. This may change, depending on user feedback or for technical reasons. We plan to send emails to registered players during the beta period announcing tournaments (if you opt-in for these messages). They will also be posted on our website,
BigMoneyTrivia.com.
What can I do with money I win in a beta freeroll tournament?
Anything you want, it is your money! You can withdraw it (subject to our standard
Cashout Policy) or you can use it to play cash games after the site goes “live” and leverage it into even bigger winnings.
Do I have to deposit money to be a beta tester?
No. However, if you deposit at least $25, you will receive an additional beta freeroll entry.
If I am a beta tester, am I guaranteed an entry into each tournament?
No, you must earn entries (it's actually quite easy, see below). Also, we will set minimum and maximum number of players per tournament so we can adequately test the system in stages. We will also limit the total number of beta testers. Therefore if you want to play in as many tournaments as possible, we strongly suggest you earn entries and register for tournaments as soon as you can.
How can I earn beta freeroll entries?
There are a number of ways to earn entries.
- You will earn one entry for registering, creating and validating your account.
- When you register, you will select a username. Send it to your friends! For each person who registers using your username, you will receive an additional beta freeroll entry. Also, when we go “live” with the site, you can receive cash every time they play a real money game. This can add up to Big Money for you (see "The Freshman 15" ).
- During the beta test, we may send you a link to a short survey to evaluate the registration process, as well as to learn more about you and what types of questions you would like to see in the game. If you fully complete a survey (no sending back blank surveys, please), you will receive an additional beta freeroll entry.
- You will earn one beta freeroll entry if you make a cash deposit of at least $25 into a real money account during the beta period.
Will you be offering both Classic and College tournaments during the beta period?
That is our intent.
What if something goes wrong and (fill in the blank)?
We will do everything we can to remedy a situation where something goes wrong and we will be as fair as we can be. However, please understand; this is a beta and things probably will go wrong and perceived justice may not be possible in all circumstances and all remedies are at management’s discretion. But remember, you will be playing with our money during the beta testing period. If you cannot live with uncertainty, it is probably better that you wait until the end of the beta test period before joining the site. However, if you wait you will be missing a shot at some free money, as well as a chance to influence the direction of the game.
Can I use more than one entry per tournament?
No. Each person can only enter each tournament once.
Can I transfer an entry to another player?
No. Entries are non-transferable.
What if I can’t use all of my entries before the end of the beta period?
Unfortunately, the entries do expire at the end of the beta period. They have no additional value.
Can anyone play in these freerolls?
No. Only beta testers will be allowed to play in these tournaments, so if you want to play against your friends, have them register as soon as possible as testers, while there are still spots available.
